Mission and Goals:
There is a growing number of children and adults being diagnosed with food allergies and anaphylaxis with an increasing need for education, advocacy and research by nurses across all settings. The group was informally established in the Fall of 2019 on LinkedIn, but decided to open its doors to all interested nurses in 2022 after publishing our vision to create a role of Allergy Nurse Educator and thrive for creating of an allergy informed nursing workforce. We provide a platform for nurses interested in sub-specialty of food allergy and anaphylaxis to connect, network, collaborate and find like-minded nursing professionals, who are forward thinking in development of innovative solutions; passionate about our role in advancing research and influencing health policy; eager to exchanging best practices, educational opportunities and mentoring; interested in offering consultation and sharing resources with registered nurses working in hospitals, private practices, public health, schools, universities and other settings; and focused on achieving the ultimate goal of improving patients outcomes and quality of life.
FANI consists of registered nurses who have a shared vision and passion to improving health outcomes and quality of life for those living with food allergies and anaphylaxis. We do it through education, scientific inquiry, speaker series, mentorship, advocacy, partnerships, related programs and technology.
