Application Information

Position Type: Volunteer

Duration: 1 year

Time Commitment: 5-10 hours per week (maximum)

To Apply:

  • You must be a SONSIEL member in good standing.

  • Submit your CV or resume and your LinkedIn profile.

  • Include a 250-word essay explaining why you want to join our team.

  • Indicate the track you are most interested in.

Deadline

The application deadline is December 31, 2024, at 11:59 PM Eastern Time. All materials must be completed and submitted by this date. Incomplete or late applications will not be reviewed.

POSITIONS OVERVIEW

Innovation Trainee: Global Engagement*

  • Actively support the implementation of strategies to enhance SONSIEL’s influence in each country;

  • Foster global partnerships, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission and goals.

*Positions are available for each SONSIEL Satellite: Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Ghana, and Spain.

*Applicants must be fluent in the official language of the respective country (Portuguese or Spanish) and speak English (no specific level required).

Additional Duties (Applicable to All Positions)

  • Take on various tasks and projects as assigned by the SONSIEL leadership team, adapting to the organization's evolving needs and priorities;

  • Contribute innovative ideas and insights to enhance SONSIEL's programs and initiatives.

Innovation Trainee: Community Empowerment

  • Assist with onboarding new members, maintaining relationships with over 600 current members, responding to inquiries, providing information about benefits, and ensuring a positive member experience;

  • Support the management of membership databases, track renewals, process applications, and ensure the accuracy and currency of member records;

  • Serve as a community moderator for SONSIEL’s global network of 600+ members, facilitating engagement and maintaining a supportive online environment;

  • Attend SONSIEL events, workshops, and conferences, actively engaging with participants and fostering a strong sense of community among nursing professionals.

FAQs

  • We are looking for nursing students, nursing professionals, and individuals from the healthcare field. The ideal Trainees are creative, team-oriented, and enjoy applying their unique perspectives to solve problems in healthcare.

  • For 2025-2026, we will accept eight (8) Trainees who will work collaboratively with each other and the Committees.

  • This is a volunteer position, and Trainees will not receive a salary or traditional benefits such as health insurance or retirement plans. 

    However, Trainees will enjoy perks such as free registrations to SONSIEL events, exclusive access to resources, program-related swag, one-on-one mentorship with experienced nurse leaders, and more.

  • The SONSIEL Global Trainee Program focuses on educating participants in the Design Thinking framework, equipping them with the skills to innovate and transform healthcare throughout their careers. Additionally, the program offers the potential to develop solutions to unmet needs that could be commercialized. While we encourage and support company creation, it is not a requirement for program completion.
